2018 Hajj: Nigeria’s advance team leaves for Saudi Arabia

The National Hajj Commision of Nigeria (NAHCON) has sent an advance team to Saudi Arabia ahead of Saturday’s commencement of airlift of Nigeria’s pilgrims to the holy land for pilgrimage.

The advance team comprising NAHCON officials, members of the medical team, accommodation team, and national reception team, departed the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja Wednesday afternoon.

NAHCON chairman Barrister Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad addressed the team before their departure.

The team will among other things prepare the ground and put things in place to receive Nigerian pilgrims.

The medical team will set up clinics in Madinah and Makkah, the accommodation team to set up and ensure proper handling of accommodation issues for ease of access to the arriving pilgrims, while National Reception Team, which has members at the two entry points of Jeddah and Madinah and another set of members at Makkah.

NAHCON chairman Abdullah advised the team members to diligently execute their assigned roles for the comfort of the Nigerian pilgrims.

He said their main responsibility is service to the pilgrims, first, before any other Hajj rites.
