NAF jets crash: Air chief set up investigative panel

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has constituted a probe panel o investigate the  remote and immediate causes of crash involving two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets  in Abuja.

NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola disclosed this in a statement.

The fighter jets, F-7Ni, crashed around 11:45 at Katampe hill in Abuja on Friday while on rehearsals for the aerial display to mark the Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary.

While confirming the incident, Air Commodore Daramola said the crash “necessitated the three pilots onboard to eject from their aircraft, which subsequently crashed in the general area of Katampe Hill.

According to him, one of the pilots later died “due to complications from injuries sustained upon impact on the ground.”

He said the air chief had sent his condolence to the family of the deceased.
