A source in a Kaduna hospital told GovernanceNews Sunday evening that many people have either been killed or injured in a renewed violence in Kaduna.
The violence broke out in a weekly market in Sabon Tasha, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis, less than three days after dozens others were reportedly killed in another communal strife in neighboring Kasuwar Magani, some 15 minutes drive from Sabon Tasha.
Many shops and stalls were torched down in Sabon Tasha during the Sunday violence.
The Sabon Tasha weekly market attracts traders from Kaduna metropolis and environs.
The mayhem broke out Sunday afternoon when trading activities in the market peaked.
A personnel in one of the private hospitals along Kakuri road, Barnawa Kaduna, said truck-loads of victims of the mayhem, comprising the injured ones and corpses, were deposited in their hospital.
“The military had brought truck-loads of victims of the Sabon Tasha communal violence.
Bodies were taken to the morgue while injured ones were being treated at the accident and emergency section of the hospital,” the source said.
On Thursday, dozens persons were reportedly killed in Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru local government in Kaduna state.
The mayhem erupted during the market day in Kasuwar Magani. Houses and stalls were burnt, while the victims were transported to hospital in Kaduna, which triggered tension.
