BREAKING: ASUU begins nationwide strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite nationwide strike.

The strike is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities, the academic union said.

The national president of the union, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, declared the strike at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State.

All academic staff of universities were directed to withdraw their services immediately.

  1. For God sake, when will the Nigerian government do the right thing on the education sector so that the issue of strike will be over? Honesty speaking, government is not leaving to her expectations when it comes to education. Today, not in the world, but in Africa, Nigeria’s education is one of the most backward education with highly substandard quality. Very unfortunate, indeed.
