The Emir of Nasarawa in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Abubakar II,has died Thursday afternoon.
He was 83 years old.
The emir passed on after a brief illness in Nasarawa town, the headquarters of Nasarawa local government area in Nasarawa state.
His funeral took place at the emir’s palace in Nasarawa, according to family sources.
President Muhammadu Buhari said he received with sadness the news of the death of the monarch.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Thursday, the president extended sincere condolences to the late emir’s family and Nasarawa Emirate Council.
He also condoled with the government and people of Nasawara State, on the demise of the first class traditional ruler.
Only last week, the Emir of Awe in Nasarawa died.
