The director- general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu has said the embattled national party chairman Adams Oshiomhole should resign for dashing the hopes of the party members across the country.
Okechukwu disclosed this on Friday in a radio programme, Political Platform of Raypower, monitored by our reporter in Abuja.
The APC chieftain said, contrary to the party’s constitution which was also made in line with the provision of the Federal Character, that all nominations in the party must be across all the States of the Federation, he (Oshiomhole) violated such and thereby went ahead to appoint 10-12 party members from his State (Edo) as chairmen of electoral committee to monitor primary elections in some states.
“APC constitution goes further to say, that the party chairman must obey the federal character principle. That is to say, there must be equal representation of all the states and the federal capital. Comrade Oshiomhole violated all these provisions,” he said.
“About 10 to 12 chairmen of the panel are from Edo state. A state like Enugu where I come from did not produce a chairman,” he said.
Okechukwu advised Oshiomhole to resign honorably resign, or the aggrieved party members will go to court to force his resignation.
