The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said Sunday that he was harrased by security agents at the Nmamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Atiku was returning from his weeks-long stay in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates capital. He ha sbeen in the midlleeast country since October when after won the PDP ticket at the national convention in PortHarcourt.
He announced this via his verified twitter handle @atiku.
“I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff,” Mr Abubakar said on his Twitter handle shortly before 4:00 p.m. Sunday. “I am committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is intimidated by agents of state who are paid to protect them.”
It was not clear which arm of the security agencies harrased the former vice president.
There are immigration officials, Department of State Security, as well as the police at the airport.
