Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has said the state will give President Muhammadu Buhari over 5 million votes in the 2019 elections.
Ganduje made this at a grand reception monitored by GovernanceNews  to receive decampees from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Kwankwassiyya movement who have followed the former governor of the state Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We have succeeded in bringing 90 per cent Kano state house of assembly members under the APC. The reason why we are doing that is in order to ensure sustainability and continuity in all houses of Assembly including including the National Assembly which is the only way we can ensure quality legislation.
“Mr. Chairman (Oshiomhole) you yourself is a progressive, if you could recall our great leader Aminu Kano of blessed memory was a progressive, our great governor Sabo Bakin Zuwo of blessed memory was a progressive, our great governor Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi was a progressive, now what do you expect from Kano is a progressive government and party followership, which is why we all united to give Mr. President over 5million votes from Kano state.
“We assure you even a blind man who comes to Kano will know there is a progressive change both in Kano metropolis and rural areas and we assure you we are in harmony with all segments of the society both youths, traditional leaders, women and youths,
“This  is why we worked hard in order to ensure we receive new entrants coming into the APC to ensure that those leaders that we share the same ideology and believe who are highly respected who have records of transforming Kano. Because of that, we are happy to have a man who I convinced our national chairman to beg him to join APC which he did and today he has joined APC, he contested and unopposed, he won to contest Kano central senatorial ticket.
“Already, we have taken more than half of PDP in Kano state. More than half of PDP worked with shakarau and now are in the APC” he added
While receiving the defectors, APC national chairman Adams Oshiohole said the problems of Nigeria before was electing insincere people to rule the country, but since the coming of APC, over all parts of the country have massive support for the President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also pledged that the government will work tirelessly to improve situation of the country
“We didn’t promise change overnight because what PDP didn’t do in 16 years we can’t do it in 3 and a half years but we are progressing and we want to join our brothers who have defected like Mal. Shekarau and others to make sure we move the country to the next level” The APC chairman said
Among the decampees are 11 members of PDP which contested for the governorship aspirants, former senators are Aminu Inuwa, Senator Muhammadu Bello, former federal law makers, members of House of Assembly and other top shots of the PDP as well as the Kwankwassiyya movement who have defected to join Ibrahim Shekarau numbering about 53.
