Former Nigerian President Shehu Shagari who died Friday in Abuja will be buried today at 2 pm in his hometown of Shagari in Sokoto State, his family said.
He died at the National Hospital in Abuja at age 93.
The body of the deceased will leave Abuja and arrive the Sir Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto around 11 am, his son, Ibrahim Shehu Shagari, said.
From there, the body will be be taken to Shagari some 20 minutes drive from Sokoto.
He was elected president in 1979 and re-elected in 1983 before he was toppled in a coup led by General Muhammadu Buhari three months later.
