Senate adjourns sitting over lawmaker’s death

The Senate on Wednesday adjourned plenary in honor of Abayomi Adeola who died on December 30.

Adeola, a member of the House of Representatives was representing Ibeju Lekki Federal Constituency of Lagos State at the lower chamber.

The adjournment followed a motion moved by Senator Francis Alimikhena who prayed the Senate to postpone their sitting to honor their departed colleague.

The Senate also observe a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.

The lawmakers therefore adjourned their sitting to Thursday after a voice vote.

Abayomi, reportedly died at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos after a brief illness.

The late lawmaker’s had served two-term and until his death had clinched the APC ticket to contest in the next general elections.
