A People’ s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Datti Yusuf Baba-Ahmed has decried the rate at which money politics reached in Nigeria.

Ahmed who was a keynote speaker at the 16th edition of Daily Trust Dialogue held in Abuja on Thursday, said money politics has reached to the extent where candidates without the financial capacity end up getting single digit votes.

His paper with the theme “Help our youth the truth to know” derived from the second stanza of the national anthem said the youths have full potentials to contribute to growth and development of Nigeria, but have been constrained financially which was not encouraging.

He said, “Asides money politics, the three major factors killing Nigerian politics are greed, treachery and diabolism which unfortunately is derailing. The most unfortunate thing is that youths are now learning from this unwanted attitudes.

“Vote buying has also become an accepting way of life during elections and candidates without financial will are relegated,” he further lamented.

He however charged the youths to ignore any form of monetary gratifications and vote credible leaders in the upcoming 2019 general elections and beyond.
