Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku says he will consider granting amnesty to corrupt persons willing to surrender profits of looted funds.
Atiku made this known when he featured on The Candidates, a live television programme on the 2019 elections.
The programme anchored by Kadaria Ahmed features presidential and vice presidential candidates of political parties.
She asked “Will you consider amnesty to people who have corruption cases and say bring some money and we will go on from there?”
Responding, he said, “Why not? It worked for Turkey . We can implement that and I have considered it.”
Atiku said the issue of corruption has been an impediment to the growth of the country, disclosing other means through which he intends to fight corruption.
