Fire raizes 70 shops in Kano’s Yan’Katako market

No fewer than 70 shops has been razed by fire at Yan’Katako market Rijayar Lemu area of Kano State.  

According to Saidu Mohammed, the spokesperson of the Fire Service in the state, about 30 shops were completely burnt down while 40 shops were slightly affected during the incident.

News agency of Nigerian (NAN) report that the Fire Service received a distress call from one Bashir Suleiman about the fire outbreak around 3:45am on Thursday, adding that the men of the Fire Service immediately mobilized it fire fighting equipment and moved to the scene to put out the fire.

“on receiving the information, we quickly sent some of our personnel and fire fighting vehicles to the scene of the incident at about 03:52. am to quench the fire so as not to affect other shops,” he added.

He however pleaded with traders at the market to be conscious and desist from using material that are liable of coursing fire accident, just as he advised them to keep firefighting equipment such as fire bucket, fire blanked and fire extinguisher which would help in avoiding fire outbreak.
