Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has donated a second-hand car to the mother of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
That will genuinely sound nice only before reading the details of the ridiculous Greek gift to the mother of the leader of the most famous caliphate in Sub- Saharan Africa.
A discreet investigation revealed that Governor Tambuwal donated the car, a second-hand black Kia SUV, 2010 model last Friday. The car was delivered to Hajiya Inno (alias Gwaggon Nasarawa) in her residence located at the Nasarawa quarters in the ancient city of Sokoto.
As benevolent as it looks, the Sokoto governor’s gift to the mother of the Sultan is anything ridiculous. The old lady deserves better from the Tambuwal’s government she spent sleepless nights and dissipated so much energy to ensure that it was re-elected in the last general elections.
It was the same woman that worked hard in mobilizing district and village heads across the state for the re-election of Tambuwal.
Hajiya Inno executed that electioneering feat using a dedicated errand boy, Nura Dan Fulani, who is an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) based in Abuja. But for the service of the mother of his eminence, the civil defence officer had since abandoned his duty post and relocated to Sokoto.
Gwaggon Nasarawa’s dedication and determination for the re-election of Tambuwal was showcased on the election’s day.
Eyewitnesses said a carpet was brought for the woman to sit in a polling unit in Nasarawa ward on the day of the governorship elections where she distributed money to electorate to vote Aminu Tambuwal as governor under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
It was therefore curious why Tambuwal didn’t find anything reasonable and befitting as a gift to the hardworking old lady other than a cheap Tokunbo car.
This gift is undeserving for the lady who threw caution to the air and openly mobilized district and village heads in Sokoto to work for the re-election of Tambuwal.
It’s noteworthy to tell the governor that the mother of his eminence is currently using a Toyota Avalon sedan, which is in better shape than the donated Kia SUV.
At least for sticking her neck for him against all odds, it is the view of many that Gwaggo deserves a better deal from Tambuwal.
